UPDATES

The team headed to Mineral Wells for our first race of the season. I guess the best word to describe the weekend would be "wet". The Saturday crit and time trial were rain soaked, and cold. Needless to say it was not the the best of racing conditions. Included in the less than favorable elements were the unavoidable crashes. The team had it's fair share which didn't help with our results. Whatever the case it was a good weekend to test our fitness and kick off another racing season. The highlights were as follows: Cat 2 5th Place TT for Rob Bell, Cat 2 7th Place Road Race for Joey Mesa, Cat 4 5th Place Crit for Dustin Sallee, Cat 4 7th Place Road Race for Terry Storch, and a Cat 4 3rd Place Overall Team Finish. Other than that the team is already looking ahead to some Kansas Crit racing next weekend!

Turkey 200: Giving Back!
11/08/2011

Team Undiscovered is always looking for ways to give back to our community and we couldn't be more excited to help kickoff what we belive will be a fantastic Thanksgiving tradition.

The Turkey 200 is an effort by local Oklahoma City cyclists and the Spero Project: Resources to help feed families this Thanksgiving. This group of riders, with many of the local racing and club teams represented, will ride 200 kilometers (124 miles) November 25th. All $15 donations will feed a family in need for an entire week. As we have much for which we are thankful, please consider joining us this Thanksgiving, and give to others in need.

The event in a noncompetitive group ride and starts from the Route 66 Park west of Lake Overholser at 8:00am November 25th. So please spread the word and join us on an epic ride for a worthy cause! See you there!

Meet Your Perfect Bike
10/12/2011
No matter what brand you ride, how light your bike is, or what latest and greatest gadgetry you have...nothing matters more than the perfect fit. Spending hours a day on our bikes we understand just how important the right fit is. Actually it's the most important element when purchasing a bike. Many bike shops want and need to sell the inventory off their floor, and more often than not this means you're getting the wrong size. This doesn't have to be the case. Team Undiscovered uses the most advanced fitting services available and luckily we don't have to travel far. Schlegel Bicycles, with the expertise of their fit specialist Aaron Smathers, provide all the fitting techniques you'd expect from a pro level shop. How? Because they are a pro level shop. From beginner to pro they will find the right fit for you. Check out their fit page and video for a quick glimpse into what you'll find. Meet your perfect bike at Schlegel Bicycles: The Perfect Fit

Why We Chose Cannondale
8/10/2011
Heading into our seventh year as a cycling team we have been blessed to have ridden some of the best bikes on the market. Specialized SL’s, Storck, Trek all fantastic bikes in their own right. But, as with many, are hindered by the fact we do not have an unlimited racing budget. And with most high-end carbon frames they come at a price that is not always able to keep up with the wear and tare a race season puts forth. Correct? No matter how hard we try we can’t avoid the inevitable crash. As many of us know the sound of a broken carbon frame means one thing...cash out of your pocket. Now we can’t deny the benefits a super light, super stiff, carbon racing machine brings, but we knew there had to be another, more affordable option. Not because we had to, but because we wanted to. With that being said we found one bike that could give us all we wanted and needed. Light weight, unrivaled stiffness, durability, affordable, and simply put...built to race. The 2011 Cannondale CAAD10 couldn’t be beat. Coming off top-of-the-line carbon frames we were instantly impressed with our new aluminum framesets. That’s right. Aluminum! These frames are stiff, light, smooth, durable, affordable, and dare I say pretty darn snazzy. Built up with SRAM Red, and some turbo racing wheels you’ll not find a better bang for your buck. We are proud and grateful to have ridden the Cannondale CAAD10 for the 2011 season, and look forward to many more successful years. So don’t believe all the hype; you don’t have to spend a fortune to find a fantastically turbo racing machine. Trust us...you will indeed be happy with your purchase.
What's In The Bag?
8/05/2011
It seems a simple discussion yet it’s a question I actually get more often than one would assume. What do you carry when you ride? I’m a pretty simple and light travel kinda rider, so it doesn’t really take much for me to feel comfort and secure when heading out the door. What’s in the bag, you ask? For starters I always carry a trusty tube, and as of late, I’ve switched from the normal Co2 method to the nice and neat little Blackburn AirStik SL. The pump works surprisingly well and eliminating the need for countless Co2 cartridge replacements is always a plus. Also included is a single handy tire lever. You don’t really need more than one, but if you don’t have the one, you’ll more than likely miss it when needed. As for added nutrients and fuel for the motor; I carry along the Hammer Gel flask full of my favorite Hammer Gel flavor (currently Montana Huckleberry). I find the flask to be more affordable and convenient while eliminating the extra tag-a-long trash.  Another must carry...a few bucks for the stores that require a minimum debit purchase, and the card for those that don’t. Last but certainly not least. My Zipp skewer plastic bag and yellow LIVESTRONG bracelet keep everything nice and tidy when placed in my middle jersey pocket. Other than that I rely mostly on a quality set of “flat proof" GatorHardShell Continental tyres  to greatly reduce my chance of the ever so dreadful training ride flat. All of these trusty products can be found at Schlegel Bicycles. If you have any questions on what is best for you stop by the shop and they'll most certainly take care of you (Team Undiscovered Club Members get a 10% discount)! Whatever the case it’s always a good idea to let a friend or family member know where and how long you plan to ride. It can be a jungle out there for us roadies, so ride safe and enjoy!
Memorial Ride
7/14/2011
This weekend will be the 1 year Anniversary of Alan Spencer & Clyde Riggs' hit and run deaths. The family has requested a Memorial Ride and are still trying to get leads that will result in the identification of the drivers. We will leave from Oakdale Elementary Saturday July 16 @ 7pm & visit both Ghost Bikes during the ride. I know Norman Conquest is that morning, I'll be there too, but please don't let that stop you from coming that evening. Please come show the family we will remember their loved ones and show your support. Spread the word! I'd LOVE to have as many people as we did last year! Let me know if you have any questions.
Get Schlegel'd!
7/08/2011
Team Undiscovered is proud to be associated with Schlegel Bicycles, and every product we use can be found at what we like to call our little bike store. Now why did we "Get Schlegel'd"? Let me tell you. Schlegel Bicycles offers the latest and greatest bicycle products, the knowledge to assist in your decisions, and service that can't be beat. Then there's the friendly staff that help create the "I could stay here all day" vibe. BUT that's not what sets Schlegel's apart from the rest. What's the answer you ask? Simply put...Community involvement. Whether it's supporting local races, numerous charity events, originations, or the countless unknown hours spent on supporting and growing our cycling community, Schlegel Bicycles is there! So if you're a first timer looking for a bike to meet your needs, or a life longer that wants to add a little speed to your current steed, this is the place for you.
